We follow the standard Ukrainian notarial certification wording, which is always accompanied by a version in the target language. The translator’s statement or affidavit is even more flexible and can be tailored to the requirements of a specific recipient. What Is a Certified Translation?

In general terms, a certified translation is a translation accompanied by a signed statement or affidavit from a professional translator or translation agency confirming that the translation is complete, true and accurate to the best of their knowledge.

In some cases, where required, the translator’s signature may also need to be notarized to meet stricter legal requirements, as is the case in some federal courts.

Furthermore, the meaning of certified translation varies depending on the country and jurisdiction and involves many legal nuances. For example, in Canada, “certified translator” is a protected title reserved for members of ATIO and similar professional associations. However, a translation may still be considered a “certified translation” if it includes an affidavit sworn or affirmed by a non-certified translator. Therefore, you need to be very careful about these distinctions when ordering a translation or submitting one to an authority.
